The accommodations at Dragonfly are a labour of love. The lodging has been created to inspire and transport guests to a place of inner reflection and growth. Enclosed in a private 3 acre grove of trees and natural brush the peaceful beauty of the Dragonfly retreat area provides an opportunity to be surrounded by nature yet it is only a 30 minute drive from the nearest city.
Facilities rental is available from May 1st through the end of September. All accommodations are warm, clean and comfortable with no phones or tv, providing a peaceful get-away. Overnight guests are welcome from Thursday through Sunday.
The central cabin, called “the Outback” provides a rustic setting with cathedral ceiling and is inspired by the warm colours of the desert. Amenities include a kitchenette, living & sleeping area, wood burning stove and a suspended meditation platform. Guests have a back to nature experience with old-fashioned privy and outdoor shower (shared with other accommodations).
A smaller cabin is under construction (to be complete spring 2009). Known as “the Faerie Cottage”, this one room cabin has a kitchenette, sleeping area, front porch and private garden. Intended to bring back the wonder of childhood, this cottage is decorated with pale pastels, antique lace and fairy motifs.
The Yurt site is located overlooking the Qu’Appelle River. An authentic mongolian yurt with beautiful hand painted decoration set upon a wooden platform. The yurt is a single room with a sleeping and living space and a enclosed outdoor cooking area.
The accommodations are non-modern, which means there is no modern plumbing, but plenty of fresh water is supplied for cooking and hygiene needs. The outdoor privy is clean and pleasant and the outdoor shower provides privacy and hot water. Coffee, tea and continental breakfasts are provided. Guests can prepare simple meals or visit one of the several small restaurants in the neighbouring community for dining out.

I also provide a sliding scale or “pay what you may” option, alternately, guests may choose a Karma Yoga (work) exchange and stay for no cost.
Site facilities include a 30 foot stone Labyrinth, yoga and meditation platforms overlooking the river, medicine wheel, fire pit, walking trail and herb garden.
Further development is anticipated with plans for 2 additional cottages, wood burning hot tub and far infrared sauna.
Area attractions of Last Mountain Lake and the Hidden Valley Nature Preserve are short drives for those who would like to go for a swim or hike. A few art galleries and other attractions are located in the neighbouring communities.
A canoe and bicycles are available to guests.
Guests may want to bring a flashlight, water bottle, warm clothing for the evening, slippers, books, art supplies, a journal and pens, or a beach towel if planning to go to the lake. Dragonfly is not a ’spa’ or B&B; guests should be prepared for camp-like facilities and encounters with wildlife such as deer, owls and the occasional mouse.
Please note: Cellular phone use is restricted to the main parking lot or inside accommodation only. At this time, we cannot allow pets. All accommodations are non-smoking. Healing requires conscious sobriety, please leave recreational drugs and alcohol at home. Dragonfly is a space of healing; guests who create unwelcome disruptions will be asked to leave.
